Detroit Red Wings unveils schedule for inaugural season at Little Caesars Arena

NHL ice hockey franchise the Detroit Red Wings has unveiled its game schedule for the team’s inaugural season at Little Caesars Arena.

The new facility will open its doors for the first regular-season game against Minnesota Wild on October 5, with the season finale taking place at home on April 7 against the New York Islanders.

The 82-game schedule includes four games against each Atlantic Division rival, three games against the eight teams in the Eastern Conference’s Metropolitan Division, as well as two games against all 15 Western Conference opponents.

Following the home opener, Detroit will set off on a four-game away trip, including their first-ever game against the expansion franchise Vegas Golden Knights.

The busiest stretch of the season, starting on November 11, will involve a span of 13 home games over a 15-game period.

Special nights during the 2017-18 season include a Halloween game against the Arizona Coyotes, as well as a New Year’s Eve home game versus the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

During the second half of the season, the Red Wings will have a four-game homestand in late February, prior to two season-long five-game road trips.

Following that stretch, the Red Wings will wrap up the 2017-18 campaign with four out of six games back at Little Caesars Arena, including the final two games of the regular season on April 5 against Montreal and April 7 against the New York Islanders.

Single-game tickets go on sale August 28 and can be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena and Fox Theatre Box Offices, as well as online through Ticketmaster and the Red Wings’ website.
