Hungarian stadium clamping down on hooliganism with biometrics

Hungarian National Championship football club Ferencváros has revealed that the use of biometric scanners at its Groupama Aréna home stadium has helped cut down on hooliganism.

According to Findbiometrics.com, the team deployed StadiumGuard from BioSec Group at the facility, which requires fans to wave their hands above the scanner to gain entry.

BioSec has said that since the technology was installed at the venue three years ago, the stadium has been free of hooliganism.

Péter Györgydeák, chief executive of BioSec, said that “seeing mothers bringing their children to the games” is the “greatest compliment” from the project.
