German Bundesliga football club Bayern Munich has partnered with German technology firm Siemens and named it as a performance partner.
The agreement will run for three years from the start of the 2017 season.
The partnership will focus on developing software and cloud-based services for an array of purposes, notably safety and security technologies for local public transportation, building technology and power engineering.
The Allianz Arena and the Audi Dome, home of Bayern’s basketball team, already host a range of Siemens systems, with the new deal planning to increase the share of Siemens solutions in and around the Allianz Arena, as well as at the offices and training facilities at the Säbener Strasse, the club’s training ground.
“Siemens and FC Bayern are global players. So the collaboration we’re now launching is a logical and attractive step,” Bayern president Uli Hoeness said.
“The fact that it also includes our ambitious basketball players is an additional sign of Siemens’ tremendous trust in the partnership between these two strong brands. We’d like to sincerely thank the people at Siemens who are responsible for making it all happen.”
Siemens president and chief executive, Joe Kaeser, said: “Our technologies and knowledge of digitalisation will enable us to help the club further increase its success both nationally and internationally since modern, high-performance sports require high-performance technologies. Siemens and FC Bayern share a passion for performance and quality.”
In addition, Siemens Healthineers, the separately managed healthcare business of Siemens AG, will also be an official partner and the club’s exclusive healthcare technology partner.
Siemens Healthineers will equip Bayern’s training facilities and the Allianz Arena with advanced healthcare solutions in order to support player health and recovery.
