Uber adds Spartak Moscow to partner portfolio

Russian Premier League football club Spartak Moscow has become the latest sports team to enter into a partnership with ride-sharing company Uber.

During the 2017-18 season, fans will be able to use Uber to travel to and from Spartak matches at the team’s Otkrytiye Arena home ground.

The club will work with Uber to set up a specific pick-up and drop-off point at the venue, with supporters able to order their Uber ride via the firm’s official mobile application.

To mark the new partnership, Spartak fans can claim a discount on their first Uber ride to or away from the stadium by putting in the code ‘SPARTAK’ in the ‘Payment’ section of the Uber app. The special offer is only available to new Uber customers.

Uber has similar partnerships in place with a host of other sports teams around the world, as it looks to take advantage of the opportunities of transport to and from sporting events.

In June, Uber signed an agreement with North American Major League Baseball team the Miami Marlins after earlier in the month entering into a partnership with the MetLife Stadium, the home of New York-based NFL American football franchises the Giants and Jets.
