Steelers’ Heinz Field to upgrade Daktronics video display board

Heinz Field, home to NFL American football franchise the Pittsburgh Steelers, has agreed a deal with video display and scoreboard specialist Daktronics to upgrade its board.

A new 13HD pixel display will increase the size of the current video board in the south end zone by more than 45 per cent.

Opened in 2001, the Pennsylvania stadium has a 68,400 capacity and is also home to the NCAA’s Pittsburgh Panthers American football team.

The installation will be complete this summer, and will measure approximately 41ft high by 123ft wide, for a total of 5,050sqft. In addition, the board has improved viewing angles with the capacity to produce 281 colours.

The Daktronics LED video display can show variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image or it can be divided into multiple zones showing live video, instant replays, statistics, animations and sponsorship message.

“We greatly value our long-standing partnership with Heinz Field and the Pittsburgh Steelers and are looking forward to continuing our relationship through this upcoming renovation,” said Daktronics chief executive, Reece Kurtenbach.
