Cleaning services company Ikon Services Australia has retained naming rights to Ikon Park, a 24,500-seat venue in Melbourne that serves as the administration and training base for AFL Aussie rules football team Carlton.
Ikon has signed a new three-year deal with Carlton to continue sponsoring the stadium, which is known historically as Princes Park, until 2020. The company has held naming rights to the ground since 2015.
The venue has not served as the primary home ground of Carlton for over a decade, with the club now playing its fixtures at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Docklands Stadium.
Ikon Park does however hold resonance with the club, which refers to the ground as its “spiritual home”. The stadium also hosts matches played by Carlton’s recently-launched AFL Women’s team.
Carlton chief executive Steven Trigg said: “Ikon Services Australia has been associated with the club for over a decade and we look forward to continuing to work alongside them over the next three years in various capacities across all facets of the club, including our AFLW programme.”
Ikon chief executive George Tahan added: “It’s a privilege to have our name adorn Ikon Park, and we look forward to working with the club to continue the positive trajectory of both Ikon and Carlton.
