Gibb to drive growth in new director role at Arena MK

Andy Gibb has been appointed director of Arena MK, as the Milton Keynes venue in England seeks to enhance its expanding conference and event business.

According to the Conference-news.co.uk website, Gibb will join Arena MK after a spell as managing director at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Prior to this, Gibb served as commercial director at events business GES, and is also currently a board member at the Association of Event Venues.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Arena MK at this exciting time in its development,” Gibb said. “The Arena is an outstanding facility, in a superb location, with a 304-bedroom hotel and market leading restaurants alongside it.

“The aim is to build on an already impressive calendar of events by attracting more exhibitions, conferences, live events and concerts, and to establish Arena MK as a serious player in the UK events market.

Located next to Stadium MK, the home of English League One football club MK Dons, Arena MK opened in February 2014 and serves as the home of Elite Ice Hockey League team Milton Keynes Lightning.

Arena MK also played host to the 2017 Masters darts tournament in January of this year, having first staged the competition in 2015, as well as the 2014 English National Badminton Championships.

Aside from sporting events, Arena MK has 3,420sq m of multi-use event space that is often utilised to host conferences, exhibitions and parties.
