Six venues across England to host U17 Euros

The stadiums for next year’s edition of the Uefa European Men’s Under-17 Championship have been confirmed, with six venues across England set to host games.

The event will run from May 4-20, with the opening game to take place at the Proact Stadium, home of League Two team Chesterfield.

The final will be held at the New York Stadium (pictured), home of League One club Rotherham United. Other games will take place at the Pirelli Stadium, home of Championship side Burton Albion; Bescot Stadium, home of League One team Walsall; Loughborough University and St. George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national training centre in Burton.

England won the European U17 title in 2010 and 2014, and finished runners-up to Spain at this year’s event. England are the current U17 world champions having defeated Spain 5-2 in Saturday’s World Cup final in India.

England U17s head coach Steve Cooper said: “We are very proud to be hosting the men’s European Under-17 finals next summer. St. George’s Park will be at the heart of training and matches and all six venues will give the players an opportunity to perform at different stadiums.

“Rotherham and Walsall have hosted a number of England development and women’s team fixtures in the past while Burton Albion and Chesterfield are fantastic venues.

“Loughborough University is a world-renowned sports and educational establishment. The tournament gives the towns and regions an opportunity to see the best young talent from across the continent and we are very much looking forward to the challenge.”

Tickets for the event will go on sale in January.
