Italian Serie A football club AS Roma has become the latest sports team to partner with transportation network Uber in a move designed to improve stadium accessibility on match days.
Uber will serve as Roma’s innovation and mobility partner for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
As part of the deal, fans will be able to utilise dedicated pick-up zones at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico stadium on home match days, with the Uber app to signal the closest areas for supporters following games.
One of the pick-up zones will be a fast-track area in Viale dei Gladiatori, which it is hoped will help ease congestion around the Stadio Olimpico on match days.
Supporters using the promo code ‘FORZAROMA’ will also receive a 20 per cent discount on all Uber rides to and from the stadium on match days. The Uber app will also feature a link to the club’s ticket office and advertisements for games.
Roma said that a series of other initiatives would be launched to improve accessibility for, and enjoyment of, games at the Stadio Olimpico.
