Tampa Bay Downs enhances fan experience with Daktronics link-up

Video display and scoreboard specialist Daktronics has installed a new LED video display at the Tampa Bay Downs horse-racing facility in the US state of Florida.

The project covers 510 square feet of additional digital space to enhance the fan experience for attendees.

The new display is situated in centre field of the track and features live video, race standings and other updates and announcements. It is 17 feet high by 30 feet wide and features a 13 HD pixel layout, providing clear imagery for spectators.

The display can also showcase sponsor messages, and features environmental protection to allow it to be fully operational during winter months.

Daktronics has included its Show Control System in the installation, which displays control software, video processing, data integration and playback hardware.

The project has been carried out in conjunction with Diversified and SVT technology Services & Solutions.

Peter Berube, vice-president and general manager of Tampa Bay Downs, said: “We conducted a ‘dry-run’ during the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Del Mar the first weekend of November, and numerous fans and visitors expressed their excitement at the clarity and brightness of the images. The LED video display board is a welcome addition to our customer experience.”

Daktronics sales representative Marty Gregor added: “We’re really excited about this project and to be working with such a great partner in Tampa Bay Downs. This installation brings added flexibility to the content and information the venue can show before, during and after racing events. It provides an additional spectator engagement aspect that venues are striving for and we’re proud to deliver a solution capable of improving the overall experience for our customers.”
