Newport County adds seats for Spurs game

League Two football club Newport County is set to add a 1,072-seat temporary stand to its North Terrace for its FA Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

The club’s 8,700-capacity Rodney Parade stadium will be expanded to welcome the Premier League team, which has been playing its home games at the 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium this year.

A statement from Newport County reads: “This decision comes as the club seeks to give as many people in the local community as possible an opportunity to support their local team in the Emirates FA Cup.

“This is the first time the Exiles have reached the fourth round of this cup since 1979 and the city is coming out in force to support manager Michael Flynn and his players.”

Tickets for the temporary stand are to cost the same as the Terraces at the Rodney Parade, with the club operating an unreserved seating policy.

The club also noted that a “small percentage” of seats in the temporary stand will hold a restricted view of the corner flag area.

The statement continued: “With this incredible support, we’re excited to be working with Newport Council and Newport BID on some fantastic ideas to make the week leading up to the match really special for the city of Newport, the community and supporters of Newport County AFC. Details on this will be released soon.”
