Mobile entry is now available at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium for the first time.
The 74,000-capacity venue, home to Hertha Berlin and built for the 1936 Olympic Games, installed new access control technology from service provider Simply-X during the Bundesliga’s winter break. The new scanners were installed at a total of 138 terminals in the Olympic Stadium.
As a result, mobile tickets and print-at-home tickets were used for the first time during Hertha’s match against Borussia Dortmund on Friday.
Simply-X, based in Lower Saxony, specialises in access control, payment solutions and loyalty programmes. The company also works with fellow Bundesliga teams Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Augsburg , Hannover 96 and SC Freiburg.
“We are very pleased to have won the Olympic Stadium Berlin as one of Germany’s largest venues as a customer. With our modern solution, all ticket variants including NFC cards, print @ home and mobile tickets can now be easily inserted, “said Matthias Bode, managing director of Simply-X.
Hertha recently signed a new two-year partnership with Smart Pricer, a provider of dynamic ticket pricing solutions.
Olympic Stadium officials also want to improve fan experience in the coming months by renovating the sound system, installing a third video wall and introducing a free wireless internet service.
“Our goal is optimal service for our organisers and our visitors. And Hertha BSC and our concert organisers can now offer this at ticketing on the computer at home or on their smartphone,” said Timo Rohwedder, managing director of the Berlin Olympic Stadium. “This will not be the last technical innovation.”
