Italian Serie A football club Cagliari has today (Monday) selected a proposal from Sportium to develop its new stadium.
Sportium has been selected ahead of Tractebel and a joint proposal from J+S and One Works.
The club said that a phase of in-depth analysis will now take place before Sportium is formally assigned the task of developing the stadium.
Sportium will engage Progetto CMR, iDeas, B&L Real Estate and Manica Architecture on the project.
The final three projects were selected from an initial list of 25 proposals and displayed at the Sardegna Arena, the club’s temporary home while its current ground, Stadio Sant’Elia, is demolished and rebuilt.
Cagliari gathered fans’ thoughts on the three proposals before selecting Sportium. The club said Sportium’s concept received the greatest public approval and also stood out in terms of technical parameters and environmental impact assessments.
The final design of the stadium will be unveiled by the end of 2018.
