SeatGeek has described its new ticketing deal with English Premier League champions Manchester City as a “major milestone”.
The Premier League club, which is one of the five most valuable in the world according to Forbes magazine, will use the ticketing platform (SRO) to continue to improve the fan experience and streamline systems and processes.
The deal will run through the 2018-19 season, with SeatGeek telling TheTicketingBusiness that it is further evidence of the company “continuing to grow into a major player in the global ticketing landscape”.
Manchester City’s executive team said they have ambitions to develop ticketing, membership and corporate hospitality solutions, and selected SeatGeek and the SRO platform following a detailed review of the sports ticketing market.
Danny Wilson, operations director at Manchester City, said: “At Manchester City we’re committed to developing the fan experience in all aspects of our operation, and see our ticketing systems as an integral part of this.
“SeatGeek are a recognised industry leader with an excellent track record of providing innovative ticketing software, so we’re incredibly excited to kick-off this new partnership.”
Manchester City will join a growing number of UK-based clubs that leverage SeatGeek as their primary ticketing provider, including 25 per cent of the Premier League.
The New York-based company has seen strong momentum around the world in recent months, having recently announced partnerships with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, and the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans.
“The Manchester City project is both innovative and exciting. The Manchester City executive team is committed to working with the latest technology to drive the ultimate fan experience,” said SeatGeek UK sport managing director Peter Joyce.
“We are delighted to have been selected to work with one of the biggest clubs in the world, as SeatGeek continues to grow its presence internationally.”
Manchester City Women’s will also use SeatGeek Enterprise ticketing solution. It will be used extensively across the club’s Etihad Campus headquarters, and will form an integral part of the club’s transactional software and reporting systems.
“We see the U.K., and much of Europe, as a major growth opportunity for our primary ticketing solution SeatGeek Enterprise,” said SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza.
“Partnering with Manchester City is a big moment for SeatGeek, as we continue to see the massive opportunity to bring world-class technology to ticketing.”
