Allianz Riviera to stage Drone Racing League event

The Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice, France will host its first pro drone race on June 16 as part of an agreement between its naming rights partner and the Drone Racing League (DRL).

German financial services company Allianz will continue to title sponsor the DRL’s Championship Race Series for the next five years.

The Allianz Riviera has a capacity of 35,000 and is the home of French Ligue 1 football team OGC Nice. The June 16 DRL event will feature home favourite Dunkan Bossion.

Allianz head of group market management and distribution, Jean-Marc Pailhol, said: “It will be a pleasure to host with the support of Allianz France the elite DRL pilots for the Level 5 race at the Allianz Riviera and we look forward to many future collaborations with DRL in our eight stadiums around the world.”

Allianz entered into a partnership with the DRL in February 2017. Under the agreement, Allianz’s logo features on the uniforms of pilots, on the starting podiums and throughout the courses.
