Tottenham confirms test events for new stadium

English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur has revealed that it will stage a series of test events at its new stadium before the team moves in later this year.

Tottenham is not scheduled to play at the venue until September 15, when the new facility hosts the Premier League clash between Spurs and Liverpool.

However, in preparation for the game, the stadium will stage at least two test events, with the first to take place next month.

Spurs will play an academy fixture on August 27, before a Tottenham Hotspur ‘Legends’ team, featuring a host of former players, faces Bayern Munich Legends on September 1.

The club will announce maximum capacity for the first two test events in due course, with both expected to require traffic measures such as road closures.

Supporters can apply to attend the events via ballots, with priority to be given to season ticket-holders and executive members.

In a statement, Tottenham said: “In order to achieve a safety certificate for the new stadium, we are required to hold two test events with increasing levels of attendances.

“The two we have scheduled will provide an exciting opportunity to see the new stadium for the first time, to support our lads in the Academy, watch our Legends take on their counterparts from Bayern Munich, familiarise yourself with your matchday route and, if that’s not enough, support good causes.”

In addition to the test events, Tottenham will stage operational orientation days for club and stadium staff on August 4 and staff and suppliers for premium areas on August 19.
