NFL’s Jets step up game-day activations with Def Jam, Marvel

NFL American football team the New York Jets has signed partnerships with Def Jam Recordings and Marvel Entertainment, with both agreements designed to improve the game-day experience.

The Jets will work with Def Jam to create exclusive, unique content and music surrounding the team. A Jets Anthem will also be created and played during home games at MetLife Stadium, forming part of the pre-game ritual as the team enters the field.

A video content series will also form part of the partnership, with Def Jam artists to collaborate and interact with Jets athletes. Def Jam will also provide the team with new music, along with hits from artists in their library that will be used in weekly ‘hype videos’ leading into game day.

Jets president Neil Glat said: “Through our partnership with Def Jam Recordings, we are looking to amplify our in-game experience and provide fans with entertaining content from their truly talented artists. In collaboration with this New York company that is recognised all over the world, we are excited to see what new and unique endeavours await our fans.”

The Jets’ partnership with Marvel Entertainment, meanwhile, will result in a host of Marvel-themed features being introduced at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets will host a ‘Green Out’ against the Minnesota Vikings on October 21, with the game to highlight the Marvel partnership with a Hulk vs. Thor theme. A 16-page Hulk vs. Thor comic book produced by Marvel will be distributed by the Jets on the day.

The first 15,000 fans that enter MetLife Stadium will be given the chance to receive a limited-edition Hulk bobble head courtesy of Toyota. Fans will also receive Hulk vs. Thor posters at the end of the game.

Additionally, a Toyota vehicle wrapped in Hulk-themed imagery will be displayed in the stadium, with Hulk vs. Thor video board elements to also be incorporated. The Jets will also release an eight-page, digital-only comic book to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Super Bowl III ahead of the October 14 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Glat added: “We are excited to announce our new partnership with Marvel Entertainment. We are always looking for creative, new experiences and ideas for our fans, and we look forward to working with an iconic brand like Marvel.”

Marvel publisher John Nee said: “Marvel is thrilled to be working with a partner like the New York Jets to provide fans new and unique ways to connect with the Marvel Universe. This multi-faceted partnership – including comics, game day collectibles, and more – will bring some of our most popular characters like the Hulk and Thor directly to thousands of Marvel and New York Jets fans this season.”
