SeatGeek gives fans a Lyft

Mobile-focused ticketing platform SeatGeek has teamed up with rideshare company Lyft to provide eventgoers with greater travel options for sports fixtures and concerts.

Fans who request a Lyft ride through the SeatGeek app will automatically have their seat location featured in the Lyft app to ensure they are dropped off as close to their seat as possible.

SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza said: “Our partnership with Lyft is a perfect example of what openness can do for fans, and what has been lacking in this industry. This is innovation that will noticeably improve the fan experience, as we look for more ways to make it easier to access and enjoy live events.”

The initiative will be launched this autumn and marks the first step in SeatGeek’s focus on improving the day-of-event experience. Fans will benefit from custom-made maps on their journeys, while Lyft customers will also receive exclusive discounts on their rides when booking via the SeatGeek app.

One of the venues that will support the initiative is Providence Park (pictured), home of Major League Soccer team the Portland Timbers, whose fans attending games via the SeatGeek app will automatically be dropped off at the best gate for their seats.

Amy Fox, head of business development and strategic partnerships for Lyft, added: “Many music and sports fans are already taking a Lyft to watch their favourite entertainer play and their favourite athlete score the game winning goal. Lyft teaming up with SeatGeek will make those fans’ game-day experiences even better.”
