Hard Rock Stadium to stage LaLiga match – report

Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is set to host a LaLiga match between Girona and Barcelona, according to a report by Spanish newspaper Sport.

Girona will reportedly act as the home team for the match, which would be held on January 27 next year at the 64,000-seat Hard Rock Stadium, which is the home of NFL team the Miami Dolphins.

Sport reported that 1,500 free flights will be made available to Girona season ticket holders. Fans will be required to pay a €500 deposit, which will be returned after the trip. Fans will also be offered an overnight stay in Florida with a deposit payment of €600 for the flight and the hotel.

The report added that there would be the possibility of 5,000 free tickets being offered to Girona fans for the game against Barcelona at Camp Nou on September 23, plus a 20 per cent return on the cost of their season tickets. Additionally, should they not want to go to Miami or the Camp Nou game, supporters will reportedly have about 40 per cent of the cost of their season tickets returned.

Hard Rock Stadium hosted an International Champions Cup match between Barcelona and Real Madrid in 2017. The ICC is organised by Relevent Sports, which last month struck a deal with LaLiga to stage regular-season matches played in the US. LaLiga has signed a 15-year deal with Relevent, which has led to the formation of the new LaLiga North America organisation.
