Toronto arena to give out free Presto cards

Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena is to give away free, pre-loaded Presto cards to fans of the Maple Leafs NHL ice hockey team and the Raptors NBA basketball franchise.

Presto is a contactless smart card payment system which is usable on selected public transit systems in Canada.

The upcoming NHL and NBA seasons will mark Scotiabank Arena’s first under its current name. The venue was formerly known as Air Canada Centre before Scotiabank took on naming rights in July under a 20-year deal.

To celebrate the first season at the newly-named arena, Scotiabank is giving away free, pre-loaded Presto cards on the days of the Maple Leafs’ and Raptors’ opening home games. The cards will be available at select TTC and GO stations while supplies last.

The Maple Leafs’ home opener is scheduled for October 3, with the Raptors’ home season to get underway on October 17. The cards will be given away from 4pm on both days, with Scotiabank ambassadors to have a limited number available.

Each card obtained from select TTC station will carry a pre-loaded amount of C$6, with cards from GO stations to carry C$8.

The initiative is designed to provide fans with greater travel options to Scotiabank Arena on game days.
