MGE and Live Nation partner for Korean resort venture

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) is to join forces with Live Nation Entertainment on a multi-year initiative to acquire talent for the former’s integrated entertainment resort currently under development in South Korea.

Due to open in 2021, ‘Project Inspire’ will be the first-of-its-kind integrated entertainment resort destination, featuring a 15,000-capacity indoor arena at its core.

Other facilities at the site in Incheon will include a three-tower luxury hotel, premier shopping facilities, other gaming and entertainment amenities and an outdoor performance space.

MGE will now work with Live Nation to attract industry talent from around the world to the new venue.

Tom Cantone, senior vice-president of MGE, said: “This is an exciting time for our industry in Northern Asia; our exclusive partnership with Live Nation Asia will further expand MGE into the global entertainment market.

“In partnership with Live Nation, our Inspire property is guaranteed to be the number one destination for guests and fans to embrace our incredible shows and must-see concerts.”

The two companies began working together in 2001, focusing on MGE’s flagship Mohegan Sun property to secure talent for the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena.

During this relationship, Live Nation has delivered over 1,100 performances at the venue.

Alan Ridgeway, president for international and emerging markets at Live Nation, added: “We have been thrilled by the success of what Live Nation and Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment have built together through the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville and are excited to continue this partnership through Project Inspire.

“Touring throughout Northern Asia has grown significantly over the last few years, and the addition of the Inspire Super Arena can only continue to enhance that growth.”
