Tottenham opens megastore at new stadium

Tottenham Hotspur has today (Tuesday) opened what it claims is the largest retail space of any football club in Europe at its new stadium, an opening date for which is still to be confirmed.

The 23,000 sq ft space – entitled Spurs Shop at the Tottenham Experience – officially opened at 10am today. The space is the first part of the Tottenham Experience, with more visitor attractions to follow.

The shop will only accept cashless payments via bank cards or mobiles, with biodegradable carrier bags available for a 10p charge. As well as official club merchandise, the store will sell Nike and NFL items. The stadium itself features a retractable pitch to allow it to stage NFL games.

Another feature of the Spurs Shop is a 100-seat auditorium area, which includes a 36-screen video wall. The space will host pre- and post-match events, special appearances and promotions. Shirt printing will also be available, while fans will be able to play FIFA 19 on in-store PlayStation 4 consoles.

The Tottenham Experience is located at the southern end of the stadium, which had been due to open last month but has been beset by delays.

Tottenham is playing home matches at Wembley Stadium while work on the new stadium is finished. The club is due to play Manchester City at Wembley on October 29, while the UEFA Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven on November 11 is also scheduled for the national stadium. Tottenham’s next home game after that is against Chelsea on November 24 and it remains to be seen whether this will be the new stadium’s first official match.
