Spice Girls confirm six-date UK tour

The Spice Girls have announced details of their first tour in 11 years, with a six-date UK stadium circuit planned for next June.

The band – minus Victoria Beckham – will begin the tour at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 1, before heading to Ricoh Arena (Coventry) on June 3, Stadium of Light (Sunderland) on June 6, Murrayfield (Edinburgh) on June 8, Ashton Gate (Bristol) on June 10 and Wembley (London) on June 15.

Details of the tour were released yesterday (Monday), with tickets to go on sale at 10.30am on Saturday. The 90s pop sensations will be supported on the tour by Jess Glynne.

The band held its first reunion tour in 2007-08 and has not performed as a five-piece since the 2012 London Olympics. Beckham will not join Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown and Geri Horner on the tour due to business commitments but wished the band “so much love and fun”.

Tickets for the tour will be available via Ticketmaster, with Twickets having been designated as the official resale partner.

Tickets are expected to be in high demand, with the 2007-08 tour selling out in a matter of minutes. More dates were subsequently added to that tour and with lengthy gaps available in next year’s schedule a similar arrangement may be introduced.

With a capacity of 27,000, Bristol’s Ashton Gate is the smallest stadium on next year’s schedule. The stadium recently underwent significant redevelopment and the Spice Girls gig is set to be one of the biggest events held at the venue so far.

The capacities of the other stadia on the tour range from 32,000 (Ricoh Arena) to 90,000 (Wembley), although these will likely be altered due to the layouts of the venues for music concerts.
