Twickenham toasts new wine partner

Majestic Wine has been unveiled as the official wine merchant of Twickenham Stadium through a four-year partnership with the Rugby Football Union.

Majestic will also hold the same role with England Rugby and will serve as the exclusive wine provider to Twickenham across all bars and hospitality areas during all events held at the stadium.

The partnership covers Twickenham’s redeveloped East Stand hospitality areas, which opened on Saturday, where sommeliers will also be provided to enhance guests’ match-day experience.

Majestic Wine will build its own bar in the BA Fan Village and receive stadium branding and advertising rights. Other elements of the partnership will see Majestic Wine offer discounts to RFU-affiliated community rugby clubs, England fans, match-day attendees, debenture holders, members of the England Rugby Club and visitors to the World Rugby Museum and England Rugby Store.

Simon Massie-Taylor, chief commercial officer at the RFU, said: “We are delighted to announce this new partnership with Majestic Wine, the UK’s leading wine specialist. Not only will their premium wines be on offer to those people here at Twickenham Stadium on match and event days, including in the new East Stand development; but also together we will provide great discounts to our community rugby clubs and fans too.”

Jo Gunn, partnerships director at Majestic Wine, added: “It’s fantastic to get the chance to work together with English Rugby and the Twickenham team. At Majestic we know all about pairing perfect wines with perfect occasions, and they don’t get much bigger than this. We’ve created a bespoke range of wines for the ground, including an exclusive new ‘Majestic Loves… Rugby’ wine. We can’t wait to see what rugby fans think. Hopefully, working together, we can kick bad wine into touch – both at the ground and across the UK.”
