Stuttgart claims first with VR stadium tour

German Bundesliga football club VfB Stuttgart has outlined plans to offer a virtual-reality, 360-degree tour of its home stadium, the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Stuttgart said the initiative is the first of its kind for a Bundesliga club. The club has partnered with inside360, which specialises in immersive 360-degree VR experiences, on the project.

The experience will take around 90 minutes and will provide fans with all the highlights of the regular stadium tour. Visitors will also be able to experience the thrills of a Stuttgart match day via VR glasses located at different stations around the stadium.

Stuttgart has worked with inside360 to film at various locations, including sites that fans cannot access on match days. Fans will be able to sample what it is like to take a corner or walk out on to the pitch from the players’ tunnel. The VR glasses will also provide audio to enhance the experience for supporters.

Mercedes-Benz Arena is one of the biggest stadia in the Bundesliga with a capacity of 60,000.
