Phillies to open outdoor beer garden at ballpark

Major League Baseball franchise the Philadelphia Phillies has teamed up with its stadium catering provider Aramark to launch a new space at Citizens Bank Park that will feature an outdoor beer garden and a host of other amenities.

Aramark is the exclusive food and beverage provider of Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies’ 43,000-seat ballpark.

The team has announced that it is working with Aramark to transform some 24,500 square feet of space adjacent to the Third Base Plaza into ‘Pass and Stow’, a new area featuring an outdoor beer garden and bar, Foundry Pizza serving brick-oven pizza, a family-friendly sports pub, 44 televisions to watch games on, and more. A 120-seat Shake Shack will also open during the offseason.

Phillies executive vice-president David Buck said: “We are always striving to make the Phillies fan experience the best in baseball. With this, we are excited to partner with Aramark to bring an outdoor beer garden to the ballpark, complete with an open-patio concept and backyard type feel.

“Pass and Stow’s sports pub and Shake Shack are also great additions for our fans. Not only will these social spaces feature a wide array of food options, but also fun design elements that tie into Phillies history and Philadelphia’s iconic Liberty Bell.”

‘Pass and Stow’ is derived from two Philadelphia foundry workers, John Pass and John Stow, who recast the original Liberty Bell in 1753. The Liberty Bell has been part of the Phillies brand and logo for many years.

Fans will be able to sample the beer garden, bar and Foundry Pizza space as soon as they enter the Third Base Gate. The first-of-its-kind space at Citizens Bank Park will seat 250 fans and feature plenty of standing room.

The Phillies said this will also mark the first time that Shake Shack has brought its sit-down restaurant experience to a sports venue. The stand will serve its classic burgers, crinkle-cut fries, hand-spun shakes and more.

Brent Hardin, vice-president, East Region for Aramark’s sports and entertainment division, said: “We’re continually working with the Philadelphia Phillies to deliver new and innovative ways to enhance the food experience for fans at Citizens Bank Park. We’re confident these upgrades will further add to an already robust line-up of offerings and give fans even more to cheer about this season at Phillies games and other ballpark events.”

The new initiatives will be in place for the Phillies’ home opener against the Atlanta Braves on March 28.
