DeNA Baystars to open new official shop at Yokohama Stadium

According to the Yokohama Keizai Shimbun newspaper, Japanese Professional Baseball (NPB) team the Yokohama DeNA Baystars will merge two of their official shops into a new shop, Baystore Home, in their Yokohama Stadium.

The two Baystars shops, Baystore Naiya2F and Baystore Naiya3F, will be merged and the new shop will be relocated directly in front of the Naiya 2F shop in between Gate 3 and 4 in the Deck Y. The new Baystore Home shop will be the team’s flagship merchandise store with its “Home” name pointing out that the location of the shop will be an extension of the home plate inside the ballpark.

The new shop will have the biggest floor area of 450 square metres which is 2.6 times larger than their current biggest shop, the Naiya 2F shop, and is expected to offer a more spacious feel to the fans’ shopping experiences. Approximately 3,000 items will be stocked which will be the biggest range of items offered amongst all of the Baystars official shops. The Baystore Home shop is scheduled to open in March, and the team is currently recruiting its shop staff.

The opening of the new shop is a part of the team’s “Community Ballpark” initiative which aims to promote the Yokohama Stadium as the city’s new landmark where baseball communities gather and communicate with each other with lots of love and passion for the game.

The Baystars released a statement saying: “Through the opening of the new, and bigger, Baystore Home official shop, we hope that the problems caused by crowd congestion which have occurred in the past will be solved, and that our Yokohama Stadium will become a place where our fans will enjoy the game more every time they come back.”
