Bank of America Stadium steps up sustainability efforts

Solar energy provider Powerhome Solar has partnered with the Carolina Panthers to install solar panels at the NFL team’s Bank of America Stadium.

The panels will seek to reduce energy costs, as well as the 75,000-seat stadium’s carbon footprint. The panels will be fitted over the coming weeks.

It comes after the NFL last year joined the Green Sports Alliance in a move designed to support sustainability efforts across the league.

“Bank of America Stadium has created several sustainability goals, including using renewable energy,” Scott Paul, vice-president of stadium operations, Bank of America Stadium, said.

“Powerhome Solar’s use of American-made solar panels and its local roots made it the ideal partner to help ‘green’ the stadium.”

Jayson Waller, founder and chief executive of Powerhome Solar, added: “Bank of America Stadium is the third NFL facility to utilise Powerhome Solar to help meet sustainability goals.

“Large commercial sites like this help us educate consumers about the simplicity and benefits of renewable energy. We hope to encourage thousands of fans to consider renewable energy and think more about the environment.”

Powerhome Solar is headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina and operates in six states, working with NFL teams, players and other athletes.
