Goiás unveils stadium plan ahead of Serie A return

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Goiás has approved a project that will lead to the expansion and complete redevelopment of its Estádio Haile Pinheiro.

Goiás, which will compete in Brazil’s top flight in the 2019 season following promotion from Serie B last year, has said funds have already been released for the scheme, which will expand the stadium to a capacity of 20,000.

Along with the complete redevelopment of the stadium, three new restaurants will be added, along with themed bars, lounges and parking for 3,000 vehicles. Goiás said an architectural and landscaping project will be included so the new stadium fits into its urban setting of Setor Bela Vista, in the city of Goiânia.

The club also detailed what it claims is an innovative proposal of integration with the neighbouring community, which will be offered facilities for fairs and events dedicated to the culture and gastronomy of the state of Goiás.

The new stadium will also include the Espaço Mulher initiative. This is a space exclusively dedicated to the club’s female fans, including hairdressing facilities, makeup artists and a massage therapist. All of these services are provided free of charge.

The new Estádio Haile Pinheiro will be developed in stages, with the club expecting work to be fully completed in up to three years.
