LA Galaxy adds new Legends Plaza to stadium site

Major League Soccer franchise LA Galaxy has broken ground on a new Legends Plaza, which will be located outside the stadium gates at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The plaza will honour club legends and feature a range of statues, beginning with David Beckham, whose statue will be unveiled at the team’s home opener against the Chicago Fire on March 2.

It is hoped the plaza will transform the main entrance of Dignity Health Sports Park (formerly StubHub Center) into a central hub for all fans on game days. Legends Plaza will feature open areas for seating as well as outdoor LED screens for live events and watch parties.

The area is already home to the club’s official store and the Dignity Health Sports Park main box office.

“The Legends Plaza at Dignity Health Sports Park continues our commitment to be the finest soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer,” LA Galaxy president Chris Klein.

“Legends Plaza is a way for our club to honour the history of our club and the many great players that have worn the LA Galaxy jersey. For years to come, Legends Plaza will be an ideal place for fans to gather before and after matches at Dignity Health Sports Park.”

Dignity Health Sports Park general manager Katie Pandolfo added: “Legends Plaza adds tremendous energy to the stadium atmosphere that we’ve built with the LA Galaxy. This stadium is a world-class venue for a world-class team, and Legends Plaza adds to the long list of reasons that our stadium is a must-visit for any fan of the sport.”
