Industry appointments round-up: AEG Presents, EFL and more

This week’s round-up includes news of Nick Spampanato joining AEG Presents as senior-vice president of venue operations.

Spampanato brings over 25 years of industry experience in venue management and will oversee operations of AEG Presents’ venues and their respective general managers. He will also transition new venue acquisitions, and provide support in new opportunities and development.

Spampanato most recently served as senior vice-president and general manager of the Forum arena in Inglewood, California. He will report to AEG Presents’ chief operating officer in his new role.

Simon Bazalgette, the current group chief executive of The Jockey Club and chairman of Jockey Club Racecourses, is to join the English Football League Board as an independent non-executive director. Bazalgette’s appointment takes the current number of directors up to nine.

Jean Gracia has been confirmed as the president of the organising committee for next year’s European Athletics Championship in Paris, France. The event will be held at Stade Sébastien Charléty from August 26-30, after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Gracia is the current vice-president of European Athletics and previously served as chief executive of the French Athletics Federation (FFA).

MelodyVR has named former Shazam executive Miles Lewis as its new chief commercial officer. The virtual reality music content creator, owned by EVR Holdings, has partnerships across the music industry, including major and independent labels, publishers and venues and has teamed up with a huge array of international artists to build the world’s largest library of immersive and interactive virtual reality music experiences.
