Leeds Rhinos go green in Super League first

The Leeds Rhinos Super League club has claimed a first for the competition after announcing plans to introduce reusable cups at Emerald Headingley Stadium.

The initiative is designed to reduce the club’s carbon footprint and began with the home game against Wakefield Trinity last Friday.

The reusable one-pint cups will feature ex-players and club legends, along with classic Rhinos blue and amber designs. The cups will be available at all stadium bars (with the exception of the Long Bar) for a £1 deposit, with every subsequent drink to be poured into the clean, reusable cup.

When supporters have finished drinking, they can either take the cup home or return it to a cup refund point in exchange for their deposit back.

The Rhinos are working with Green Goblet on the initiative, with the environmentally-friendly company having supplied the cups. Green Goblet hopes the partnership will help spread its message of ‘Refill Not Landfill’.
