Industry appointments round-up: NEC Group Arenas, Ticketmaster and more

This week’s round-up includes Andy Price’s appointment as the new head of commercial at NEC Group Arenas, along with moves involving Rupp Arena, Ticketmaster and more…

Price (pictured) will work across both Arena Birmingham and Resorts World Arena (formerly Genting Arena), focusing on growing existing revenues by creating value in customer proposition and generating new streams through products and business opportunities.

Price will also oversee the development of the Arenas’ VIP hospitality business, Amplify. Price previously spent seven years as regional marketing director at Midlands-based radio brands Free Radio and Gem and most recently worked as client services director for communications agency Alive.

Oak View Group Facilities has appointed Brian Sipe as director of booking at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Sipe joins OVG Facilities after serving as general manager of Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Sipe also spent time as box office manager at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey; booking and box office manager at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania; general manager of the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, West Virginia.

Mark Devlin, the former chief executive of English Championship football club Brentford, has taken up a similar role at League of Irish Premier Division side Dundalk. Devlin spent seven years at Brentford and has also worked as chief executive of Queens Park Rangers and Swindon Town.

Ticketmaster has appointed former HotelTonight executive Karen Klein as its new executive vice-president and general counsel. Klein will oversee Ticketmaster’s legal, government affairs, public policy and human resources teams.

Australian ticketing firm Oztix has announced several internal staffing changes, with Steve Tassone becoming general manager, Jim Cunningham being named as national operations manager, Amy Gates becoming NSW and ACT business development manager, and Dave McCarthy to serve as digital campaign specialist.

Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers has promoted Brandon Gomes to vice-president and assistant general manager. Gomes has been serving as director of player development since 2016 and joined the Dodgers’ front office following a five-year career as a player with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Eric Cuthbertson has started a new role as a senior consultant of sports and leisure at food services and facilities management company Sodexo. The role will focus on new project acquisition in greater China.
