Bankwest Stadium prepares for opening with Ticketek deal

Ticketek Australia has added Bankwest Stadium, the new home of NRL rugby league club Parramatta Eels and A-League football team Western Sydney Wanderers, to its portfolio of stadium partners.

The deal announced today (Friday) names Ticketek, which is part of ticketing, live entertainment and data analytics group TEG, as the stadium’s ticketing partner for all events moving forward, commencing with the venue’s Community Open Day on April 14.

Bankwest Stadium joins ANZ Stadium, MCG, SCG, Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval and AAMI Park as major venues covered by ticketek.com.au. Managed under the authority of New South Wales government agency Venues NSW and operated by VenuesLive, Bankwest Stadium has been built on the site of the old Parramatta Stadium that was demolished in 2017.

Major work started on the 30,000-seat stadium in September 2017 and the project has a budget of Aus$360m (£195.9m/€227.2m/$255.2m). The venue has been designed with a view to creating the most intimate stadium experience in Australian sport.

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry said: “Bankwest Stadium will set a new standard in the event experience in Sydney and we are thrilled to have Ticketek on board to help us deliver events at the Stadium.

“We value the fact that Ticketek has its own local technology team to develop and deliver world-class customer experiences to Australian fans. We are particularly excited about Ticketek’s innovation in mobile ticketing and technology and the many benefits this will provide to fans and hirers at Bankwest Stadium.”

As a foundation partner, Ticketek is supporting next month’s Bankwest Stadium Community Open Day. So far more than 20,000 complimentary tickets have been reserved for the event, the first opportunity for fans to get a look inside the new venue.

TEG CEO Geoff Jones said: “Bankwest Stadium represents a step change in the live entertainment experience in Australia. The breathtaking design, the sightlines and the proximity of seats to the action will produce atmospherics that will set new benchmarks.”

Earlier this week, the Eels teamed up with TLA Australia and Game Changer MVP as the team seeks to provide a world-class fan experience at Bankwest Stadium. Western Sydney Wanderers last month confirmed a long-term agreement to play home games at the venue.

The opening sporting event at Bankwest Stadium is the NRL Premiership Round Six clash between Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers on April 22.
