NRL’s Sharks score new stadium sponsor

Australian online bookmaker PointsBet has acquired naming rights to the home stadium of NRL rugby league club the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

The four-season deal officially renames the ground as the PointsBet Stadium and also grants PointsBet brand exposure on the the club’s shirts.

The deal comes after PointsBet’s launch in the recently legalised US sports betting market.

PointsBet Stadium is owned and operated by the club and has a capacity of 22,000.

PointsBet co-founder and chief marketing officer Andrew Fahey said: “They have ambitious plans both on and off the field and we look forward to being part of their success.

“There is nothing better than watching footy at a traditional suburban ground like at Cronulla and you won’t find a more loyal, passionate supporter base than Sharks fans.

“The announcement of PointsBet Stadium is something we are very proud of.”
