Texas Rangers to install Daktronics video boards at Globe Life Field

Venue display and control systems specialist Daktronics has teamed up with the Texas Rangers to bring two state-of-the-art video boards to its new Globe Life Field ballpark.

The Major League Baseball franchise announced the addition on Monday with each board to hang over right and left field of the ballpark.

Globe Life Field, which is scheduled to open in March 2020, will now boast nine video displays in total, with a vertical one in centre field to complement the two new large horizontal displays on either side.

The right-field video board will be 58 feet tall by 150 feet wide, 43 per cent larger than the right-field board at Globe Life Park, its current home. The new left-field board will be 40 feet tall by 111 feet wide, or 29 per cent bigger.

The new facility will also have a main ribbon display stretching on the seating facades from foul pole to foul pole.

Chuck Morgan, vice-president of ballpark entertainment for the Texas Rangers, said, according to MLB.com: “Being an old pioneer of video boards and scoreboards, I’m excited and look forward to seeing the video boards and technology that Daktronics will bring to what I call the most comfortable seat in baseball history right here at Globe Life Field.

“Seats closer to the field, air conditioning comfort and state-of-the-art, bigger video boards. It could be better than the seat in your living room at home.

“We have 81 chances each year to do our best. The most important thing for a Major League club and its entertainment staff is making sure everything is working for those 81 games. The technical support we have received from Daktronics is second to none. They have always been there for us when we have had an issue.”
