Ticketmaster has signed a new multi-year deal with the Golden State Warriors to cover the NBA basketball team’s move to the state-of-the-art Chase Center arena later this year.
Ticketmaster will continue to serve as the official ticketing partner of the Warriors, while it will also be a founding partner of Chase Center, the 18,000-seat arena that is due to open in September.
Ticketmaster will power venue and ticketing technology for Chase Center and the Warriors, as well as the team’s Santa Cruz Warriors’ G League team. It will also become a partner of the franchise’s Golden Guardians and Warriors Gaming Squad esports affiliates.
As part of the new agreement, the Warriors and Chase Center will utilise Ticketmaster’s Presence platform to provide fans with a safer way to buy, sell and transfer tickets. The platform will also streamline venue entry and provide the Warriors with increased insights into all aspects of the ticketing lifecycle, enabling the team to create more customised experiences for fans.
Through Presence, Chase Center will also be on the path to implementing Ticketmaster’s SafeTix technology following the 2019-20 season. SafeTix ties unique, identifiable digital tickets to fans’ mobile phones through an encrypted barcode that automatically refreshes every few seconds. Tickets will also include NFC technology to allow fans entrance to venues through a ‘tap and go’ experience.
Brandon Schneider, the Warriors’ chief revenue officer, said: “Ticketmaster has proven time and again that they not only provide the most advanced products in the ticketing industry, but that they are experts in successfully launching technology in new venues.
“They offer the most secure marketplace for our fans to buy and sell tickets, and share our laser focus on creating the best possible experience through all aspects of attending a live event.”
With Chase Center nearing its opening date, the Warriors last week revealed the first group of restaurants and retailers to be included within Thrive City, an 11-acre, mixed-use complex that is planned for the surrounding district of the arena.
As well as Warriors games, Chase Center is set to host concerts, cultural events, family shows and more, with nearly 200 events to be held at the venue each year.
