Kansas City Chiefs unveil drum deck at Arrowhead Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs NFL American football team has announced plans to introduce a new drum deck at Arrowhead Stadium.

The space will be located around section 335 of the stadium and will house the Chiefs’ drum that is usually used on-field ahead of games. The team gets a different person to bang the drum before each game, with local sports stars having been given the honour in the past.

The Chiefs teased the new drum deck with a post on the team’s official Twitter account. The drum deck will be fitted at Arrowhead Stadium ahead of the new NFL season, which begins in September.

Arrowhead Stadium is one of the oldest stadia in the NFL having opened in 1972. The stadium has a capacity of 76,000.

Earlier this year, the Chiefs announced plans to upgrade Arrowhead Stadium during the offseason. The stadium’s football-shaped ‘Arrowvision’ scoreboard, which hangs over the west end zone, will be modernised with new LED panels to provide a more enhanced picture.

The upper deck’s waterproofing measures are also being reapplied to protect the enclosed space below Club Level and bolster Arrowhead Stadium’s ability to deal with adverse weather. Every seat in the stadium’s upper deck is being removed to allow for the renovation work.
