Signify lights up Stade Vélodrome

Lighting specialist Signify has completed an installation project at the home of Ligue 1 football club Olympique de Marseille to make the Orange Vélodrome the largest 100-per-cent LED stadium in France.

With the support of Signify’s connected lighting system, Interact Sports, the 67,000-seat venue will provide an immersive fan experience through light, sound and animations.

Signify’s Philips ArenaVision LEDs were installed in the stands and also directed on the pitch, with a dashboard allowing stadium operators to control the software centrally.

The Interact Sports system allows the lights to be adjusted to cater for different sports and entertainment events.

“The Philips ArenaVision LEDs, connected to the Interact Sports system, offer an exclusive animation tool to the supporters of the Orange Vélodrome, spectators and citizens of Marseille,” the club’s deputy general manager, Thierry Aldebert, said.

“Coupled with the new sound system, it delivers an unforgettable match experience. This brings immersion, resonance, thrill and pride.

“The first tests with the supporters, highlighting their creations and animations, are very positive, and we welcome their ideas in order to give Marseille and OM a reputation worthy of the greatest.”

The lighting includes 316 Philips ArenaVision LED projectors for pitch lighting and 60 Philips ArenaVision LED projectors for the stands.

Thomas Bozek, head of professional sales at Signify France, said: “We are particularly proud of our collaboration with the Orange Vélodrome, which allows spectators and viewers to experience unique light experiences synchronised to the music.

“The system also supports the stadium in achieving its responsible and environmental goals enabling durability through longevity and significantly reduce maintenance. In addition, we’ve signed a 15-year service contract ensuring continuous performance of the lighting installation.”
