Scotiabank Arena debuts new outdoor LED screen

Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena has been fitted with a new and larger outdoor LED screen as part of wider renovation work at the 19,800-seat venue.

Arena owner Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) and LG Electronics Canada announced details of the improvements at the arena, which is home to defending NBA champion the Raptors and NHL team the Maple Leafs.

All of the arena is currently undergoing improvement, with the inside of the venue now featuring LED digital signage that can change colour according to events happening in the building as well as the city.

The new outdoor LED screen located in Maple Leaf Square is 37 per cent larger than the previous structure, measuring 62 feet by 35 feet. Its technology allows for rich, saturated colours to be created and a high level of brightness to elevate the viewing experience for fans watching games.

Nick Eaves, chief venues and operations officer at MLSE, said: “The enhancements to our venue with the support and investment of our partners, Scotiabank and LG, allows us to provide the very best in facilities and a world-class experience for our fans in every way.

“After an incredible Toronto Raptors Championship season, these enhancements will enable us to create bigger and better experiences for our fans watching inside the venue, and outside in Maple Leaf Square. We want to continue to make this area a vital part of Toronto’s vibrant sports and entertainment scene.”

Clinton Braganza, chief marketing officer at Scotiabank, the arena’s title sponsor since last year, added: “From the time that the Scotiabank Arena deal was announced, until now, Scotiabank has maintained our commitment to improve the fan experience through continued enhancements to the building and through our strong relationship with MLSE.

“From the larger screen in Maple Leaf Square, to new additions to the Scotia Perks program, we continue to look for new ways to make Scotiabank Arena one of the best entertainment venues in the world. We’re excited for what the 2019-20 hockey and basketball seasons have in store and look forward to celebrating along with the fans under the new transformational Scotiabank Arena signage in the Square.”
