Eden Park builds luxury lounge into seating

A new and exclusive Jameson Game Day Lounge has been unveiled in the middle of the north stand at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

The new lounge, which has required three rows of seating to be removed, features leather and mahogany furnishings in order to replicate the atmosphere of a luxury whiskey bar.

In partnership with Jameson Irish Whiskey, the Game Day Lounge is now available to be purchased for the 2019-20 season at New Zealand’s national stadium, with a tender having been launched. The deadline for bids is November 6.

Visitors to the lounge, which can seat up to 10 guests, will be treated to Jameson drinks and cocktails along with cheeseboards at each event.

A variety of events will take place at Eden Park over the coming months, including two All Blacks Test matches, five New Zealand national cricket team contests, two national women’s cricket team matches, Super Rugby, domestic cricket, A-League football games and other events.

“As the sports and entertainment landscape continues to evolve, the need to engage clients and patrons through new experiences is paramount,” Eden Park chief executive Nick Sautner said.

“This innovative addition illustrates Eden Park’s ability to bring the comfort of the at-home experience into a stadium environment.”

Such an experience has already been established at Eden Park through an innovative partnership with Airbnb that was announced in July.

So-called ‘Staydium Glamping’ has been introduced at the 60,000-capacity venue, thought to be a world first, with two custom-designed domes available for members of the public to stay in.

The domes are located in the stadium’s north-eastern corner and provide guests with a floor-to-ceiling view of the field, as well as a bed, TV, bathroom and heating.
