Hawks, State Farm Arena to implement Intel True View

The Atlanta Hawks have become the latest NBA basketball team to partner with Intel Sports to enhance State Farm Arena’s media and technology capabilities.

The partnership will see new media experiences delivered to fans in the arena, on-air via Fox Sports Southeast and through digital and social media channels.

As part of the agreement, a range of 5K HD cameras have been fitted and mounted throughout State Farm Arena. The cameras will capture unique views and angles and once the video has been processed, the Intel True View platform will produce innovative 360-degree highlights, freeze frames and views of the action.

The technology will give fans the chance to sample what the game is like from a player’s perspective. The partnership comes after State Farm Arena was last year fitted with the NBA’s first 360-degree video screen.

Intel True View will complement, and provide immersive experiences for, the video screen, as well as the arena’s scoreboard and corresponding video boards.

Andrew Saltzman, chief revenue officer of the Hawks and State Farm Arena, said: “We are excited to introduce this amazing innovation and continue enhancing the fan experience for Hawks fans everywhere. Intel True View is the premier viewing technology in all of sports, and we are eager to work with Intel Sports on new and cutting-edge ways to showcase the incredible action displayed every game at State Farm Arena.”

Howard Wright, vice-president of business development at Intel Sports, added: “Intel Sports is excited to partner with the Atlanta Hawks to enhance the fan experience through innovative immersive media experiences in the state-of-the-art State Farm Arena.

“The Hawks are a dynamic partner for Intel Sports because they are eager to experiment and push the boundaries of technology to provide new and compelling ways to engage their fans. Atlanta has a vibrant technology community with a loyal fan base that is ready for enhanced digital storytelling that Intel True View enables.”

The Hawks join the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards as Intel’s NBA partners.
