Serie A on course for 30-year attendance high

Italy’s Serie A, the top tier of club football in the country, is on track to attract more than 10 million spectators for the 2019-20 season, which would mark the first time it has surpassed the figure in nearly 30 years.

According to data published by the league, more than five million fans have attended games in total so far this season, with the average attendance reaching 26,952.

Attendance figures have seen a seven-per-cent increase compared to last year when the average attendance was 25,172, and a 26-per-cent rise compared to two years ago with an average of 21,415.
