Lucas Oil Stadium becomes NFL’s latest sensory-inclusive venue

Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts NFL American football team, has become the latest US sports venue to cater for fans with sensory sensitivities by partnering with non-profit organisation KultureCity.

As a sensory-inclusive venue, Lucas Oil Stadium will offer fans a sensory bag that will include noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads.

Staff at the 67,000-seat stadium have also been trained so they are better prepared to respond to fans who may suffer from sensory overloads caused by the heightened atmosphere on game days.

A designated quiet room has also been set up at the stadium to provide guests who may become overwhelmed by the atmosphere with a more secure space.

Lucas Oil Stadium director Eric Neuburger said, according to the Inside Indiana Business website: “Our team is thrilled to provide sensory-inclusive enhancements to the Lucas Oil Stadium experience.

“With the training our staff received and our new sensory bags from KultureCity, we now can provide an opportunity for all guests to experience everything our world-class venue has to offer at their own pace and comfort level.”

Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets NBA basketball franchise, recently joined forces with KultureCity to become sensory inclusive. Other major-league venues to have signed similar deals with KultureCity include Fiserv Form, Capital One Arena and U.S. Bank Stadium.
