Appointments round-up: NHL Seattle, Oakland Athletics and more

This week saw Oak View Group hire three senior executives to work at Seattle’s new NHL ice hockey arena, which is currently being built in the US city.

Eric Bresler has joined OVG as a senior vice-president of programming, with Tom Conroy and Rosemary Selle joining as vice-president of operations and vice-president of marketing, respectively.

Bresler most recently served as executive director of Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors NBA basketball team. He previously served as vice-president of event booking and development for AEG Facilities and also worked at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.

Conroy previously worked for Ogden Entertainment Services and has helped open numerous venues in the US and UK. Selle joins OVG from AEG Facilities/ASM Global, where she worked as a regional director of marketing.

Selle has also held roles at Minneapolis’ Target Center and the former KeyArena, where the new Seattle NHL arena is currently being built. The arena is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021 ahead of the team’s debut season.

Steve Fanelli has joined the Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball team as vice-president of ticket sales and analytics.

Fanelli started his role on February 4 and will oversee ticket sales and operations, ticket services and data analytics, as well as focusing on the continued enhancement of the team’s overall fan experience.

Fanelli spent 20 years with the A’s in various roles from 1997. He left the A’s in 2017, spending the past two seasons working as vice-president of ticket strategy and operations for rival MLB team the San Francisco Giants.

Lisa Niess has started a new position as director of marketing and communications at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings NFL American football team.

Niess previously worked as a marketing and communications manager for the venue, which opened in July 2016.

Tamás Szekeres has taken up a new role as stadium director for Hungarian football club Budapest Honvéd FC.

The top-tier team plays at the 8,000-seat Hidegkuti Nándor Stadion, which opened in 2016. Szekeres is the owner of WiseStadia, an independent consultancy that provides a range of support services for clients within the stadium industry.
