Centerplate lands Tim Hortons Field contract

Hospitality services provider Centerplate has entered into a multi-year partnership with Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

The deal grants Centerplate management of catering, food and beverages at the venue, as well as concession services.

Tim Hortons Field, which opened in 2014, has a capacity of 23,000 and serves as the home of Canadian Football League outfit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Canadian Premier League soccer team Forge FC.

Centerplate, with the support of its in-house hospitality solutions group, will work alongside the venue to enhance the guest experience on the general concourses, social viewing areas and premium spaces.

Matt Afinec, president and chief operating officer of the Tiger-Cats and Forge FC, said: “We prioritise a first-class environment for the fans and our corporate partners at Tim Hortons Field and are constantly looking for ways to enhance our fan experience. We look forward to working with our new partners at Centerplate to deliver an exciting new era in hospitality and service, building on what is already the best live viewing experience in Canada.”

Centerplate chief executive Steve Pangbum added: “We are excited to come in and enhance the guest experience for all Hamiltonians and visitors who come to Tim Hortons Field to enjoy an event. Our team has hit the ground running, with a focus on quality service, partnerships with premium local, regional and national partners, and innovative new design. The bold vision of the venue managers makes this an exciting new venture for us.”

Tim Hortons Field will host the Grey Cup, the CFL’s championship game, in 2021 and the Tiger-Cats have detailed plans to deliver the most “unique and social stadium experience” in the event’s history.

The event will be highlighted by the Grey Cup Social, which has been dubbed a “music festival meets food expo”. The capacity of Tim Hortons Field will expand to more than 33,000 for the event.

Centerplate also lists Bell MTS Place, home of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, and BC Place, home of the Vancouver Whitecaps Major League Soccer team and CFL franchise BC Lions, among its clients.
