Philadelphia Union lands Subaru as new stadium sponsor

Subaru of America has today (Tuesday) acquired naming rights to the home stadium of Major League Soccer franchise Philadelphia Union.

The multi-year deal officially rebrands the team’s Talen Energy Stadium as Subaru Park. Subaru will also become the official and exclusive automotive partner of the Union.

The deal marks Subaru’s first partnership with a major-league sports team.

Union president Tim McDermott said: “Today is the start of a historic new chapter for the Philadelphia Union, both with the inauguration of our 2020 season at Subaru Park and in the official beginning of our relationship with Subaru of America, a partner that shares in our vision for a better future for our fans and surrounding community.

“Subaru of America has consistently exemplified a passionate commitment to the community and bringing people together, which is a core value upon which our club was founded. We are committed to working hand-in-hand to give back and create a better world for our fans and the people of the Greater Philadelphia area.”

New dynamic signage will be added to Subaru Park as part of the name change. The stadium will also receive a new state-of-the-art video board for the 2020 MLS season. The Union said this will mark the first HDR compatible video board in a Philadelphia sports venue and the first in any MLS soccer-specific stadium.

The team has also acquired three new parking lots to provide more space for ticket holders. The Union’s VIP tunnel club is also now open, offering exclusive benefits such as all-inclusive food and beverages, as well as behind-the-scenes proximity to players.

The Union and Subaru of America have also pledged to produce a range of charitable programmes as an extension of the Subaru Love Promise vision.
