Cricket South Africa signs partner for stadium connectivity

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has teamed up with telecommunications company BitCo Telecoms to boost connectivity at 16 cricket stadia across the country.

The five-year deal names BitCo as the official internet service provider of CSA and the Proteas national team.

As part of the agreement, BitCo will provide fibre internet and voice over internet protocol services to all 16 cricket stadia in South Africa, as well as the CSA’s headquarters in Melrose, Johannesburg, and the Centre of Excellence in Hatfield, Pretoria.

Jacques Faul, acting chief executive of the CSA, said: “We are proud to be partnering with BitCo and also proud of their capability to meet CSA’s requirements and those of our members. The service has been in full operation for some time now and it has already met our capacity. We look forward to many more successes and to continue receiving superior and unparallelled service from our partner, BitCo.”

The deal has been signed after Cricket South Africa last month saw its deal with main sponsor Standard Bank come to an end.

BitCo is renowned for its business fibre internet, wireless internet and voice over internet protocol services across South Africa.

Major cricket stadia in South Africa include Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Newlands Cricket Ground (pictured) in Cape Town and Kingsmead in Durban.
