Barcelona invites fans to be part of Camp Nou’s ‘big picture’

Spanish LaLiga football club FC Barcelona has teamed up with sponsor Rakuten to launch an initiative that will give fans worldwide the chance to be featured on a new giant vinyl canvas at the Camp Nou next season.

Under the ‘Be part of the big picture’ project, supporters will be able to send pictures of themselves to a dedicated website, with a total of 46,000 photographs set to be used within a mosaic of first-team stars, as the above mock-up shows.

The pictures will also be available digitally to anyone who is unable to come to the stadium in person, while those who are able to attend the Camp Nou will be able to find their pictures via augmented reality technology.

The deadline for picture uploads will be the early hours of August 11, although it is possible that the maximum number of eligible entries will be received before then.

The project, in partnership with online retailer Rakuten, is just the latest scheme the club has embarked upon, in partnership with a commercial partner, with the aim of bringing fans closer to the stadium even if they are unable to be there in person due to ongoing restrictions in relation to Covid-19.

In May, Barcelona and car partner Cupra launched the ‘Let’s win this match together’ campaign to fill the stands at the Camp Nou with photos of fans on LED screens set up around the stadium.
