The O2 offers extreme staycation experience

The O2 has welcomed what is claimed to be the world’s first urban cliff camping motel as part of a tie-up with US automotive manufacturer Jeep.

The Renegade Model, touted as the world’s most extreme staycation hotspot, is a hanging tent suspended nearly 250 feet above the London arena. Booking is open for one night stays on September 18 or 19.

The initiative is designed to promote Jeep’s new Renegade 4xe plug-in hybrid model, with further ‘Roof Top’ Motels set to be launched in a select number of UK city locations. The Motel, an innovative hanging tent system known as a portaledge, has been fixed to one of the yellow pylons on The O2.

Guests will be able to spend the night on the ledge and watch the sun set and rise over Canary Wharf. The Motel experience, offering dinner, bed and breakfast and 24-hour concierge, comes equipped with a number of features inspired by the Renegade PHEV.

These include a wi-fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa connectivity and a portable power supply charged by the hybrid Renegade, which guests will have use of. On arrival, Motel guests will get a preview of where they’ll sleep that night by taking in The O2’s roofwalk experience, Up at The O2. They will then dine in The O2 before heading up to their Renegade Motel ‘room’.

Steve Sayer, vice-president and general manager of The O2, said: “We’re thrilled that Jeep has chosen our venue for the first ever urban cliff camping Motel and we’re really looking forward to seeing it suspended from one of our iconic yellow pylons. The guests are in for a real treat and will experience some amazing views of London during their stay in the Renegade Motel.”
